These are the two questions that I ask leaders – inviting them to share something about themselves personally and professionally as well as asking them about the contribution that they want to make through their leadership, their sense of purpose and direction. This is all part of helping them grow their confidence in who they are as a leader in touch with what they care about and what matters to them and being guided by these values and beliefs in all that they do – inside and outside of work. I am a great collector of good quotes and one that I really like is:
Nobody cares about what you know until they know how much you care.
This for me sums up the importance of living our values and beliefs through our behaviour, bringing what we care about to our leadership.
